Mile High Dining spent part of an afternoon at the Denver Greek Festival. Since it was 90+ degrees and lots of black asphalt, time was limited. This year, the festival improved by having several food stations. I selected the gyros and baklava. The gyros were fairly priced and were delicious. The pork was lightly seasoned and served with pita bread, tomatoes, onions, and the mild tzatziki sauce. The sauce is yogurt, mixed with garlic and dill. Although I had to stand at an upright table to eat, it was still very enjoyable.
The baklava is a sweet pastry made with phyllo dough, lots of honey and walnuts. It’s a good way to end lunch. Of course, I had a sip of ouzo. It’s a liquor made from the leftover grape skins and other remnants when making wine.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for the Denver Greek Festival is Good.
