After trying to obtain reservations for weeks, Mile High Dining and friend secured a Friday evening at Dear Emilia. It’s an upscale Italian restaurant. We sat at the chef’s counter, but there were no chefs, only a server. The interior of the restaurant needs some color, like artwork or flowers as it’s very plain looking.
Food options are plentiful. We started with soufflé Parmigiano, which I had never had before. The aged cheese is presented in an airy soufflé topped with grape honey. It was good. Also a good starter is the gnocco fritto, which is shaved prosciutto sitting on soft beignets.
The lasagna verde won the presentation award as the spinach pasta is rolled into a ball and topped with tomato sauce and basil leaves. I enjoyed this dish. The other main dish we shared was the maiale al latte which is a very tender pork shoulder as it’s aged for days. You can cut it without a knife and with the creamy polenta, it’s delicious.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Dear Emilia is Good.
