Many folks claim the only things coming from Colombia are drugs but Mile High Dining found its food at la Chiva Colombian Cuisine. The restaurant has taken over a beautiful old house with a great patio out back. It’s a causal place and if you are fluent in Spanish it helps to understand the menu.
The two us started with a Colombian soda which was too sweet flavored but I had to give it a try. We shared an appetizer, Tequenos, which are cheese sticks rolled with flour dough then fried. A little too plain tasting for me.
The focus of the meal was the shared platter of food, La Chiva Picada. The platter had pork nuggets, chorizo sausage, chicken, yellow potatoes, yuca roots, arepas (cornmeal bread), plantains ( tropical fruit), a touch of lettuce, and mild and spicy (aji) dipping sauces.
We both enjoyed the lovely patio and eating Colombian food as it was a new dining experience for Mile High Dining.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for la Chiva Colombian Cuisine is Good.
