Milpero

Mile High Dining and a friend ate at Milpero which is a small chef‘s counter restaurant featuring 18 Mexican tasting dishes. It’s part of the Michelin star restaurant group, Alma Fonda Fina, and Mezcaleria. Only 16 people eat per night in shifts of eight. You start at the cold food counter, and then move to the warm food counter.

The food began with a spicy oyster then the following cold dishes: kampachi, mollusk, tamale, flauta, crane apache, tostada, and a seafood soup. My favorite cold dish was the kampachi.

The eight person dining group is shifted to the warm food counter for smoked marlin, lamb, pig, steak, fish, and squab. My favorite warm dish was the steak.

We finished with four desserts prepared by a young and friendly pastry chef. The tres leeches with sliced apples easily won the best dish of the evening.

Dinner takes three hours as every dish was explained by one of the half dozen chefs. The pastry chef even hand wrote out for me the recipe for preparing the sliced apples.

Overall, the food and service was excellent.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent

The verdict ⚖️ for Milpero is Excellent.
