Lo Stella Ristorante

We went to Lo Stella, a traditional Italian restaurant related to the family restaurant in Portofino, Italy that has been operating since 1850. Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones once at at the Denver location and if it’s good enough for Mick, it’s good enough for Mile High Dining.

The three of us shared two appetizers and three main dishes and wine. Mile High had a glass of the Italian valpoicella!

The insalata caprese has a pretty presentation sliced red tomatoes and lots of mozzarella cheese, although the cheese is delicious wait till we get local ripe tomatoes as these lacked flavor.

The carpaccio (thin sliced raw) salmon sits on a bed of greens with capers and drizzled in balsamic glaze. A good dish.

The three main dishes were ravioli, taglierini (thin ribbon pasta), and salmon. Mick Jagger’s choice was the taglierini pasta with shrimp and zucchini with a very light white wine sauce. The pasta and shrimp were very good but the sauce very light with barely a taste.

The ravioli di pesce is covered in a creamy shrimp sauce was the best dish of the evening. The sauce makes the plate!

The salmon alla griglia with a side of sautéed spinach was good but the large amount of greens of top of the fish and a side of spinach dominated everything.

The three of us loved the service as the server shared stories about Mick Jagger and some of his favorite dishes from around town. He also presented us with a complimentary taste of grappa.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Lo Stella Ristorante is Good.
