Mile High Dining continues to support locally owned restaurants and visited Jack’s on Pearl. It’s a beautiful white tablecloth restaurant in the former Tavern location. The ground floor is dining and upstairs has a large bar, an outside patio, and casual food options. Parking is at a premium but there was a $5 valet parking available.
We started with Jack’s millionaire martini which had a very mild taste but the bar added an extra shot of alcohol. For appetizers, we selected the six Rockefeller oysters and the house salad for the two of us. The oysters were delicious. I’ve voted them best dish of the evening.
The entrées selected were St. Louis style baby back ribs with baked beans and the chef’s feature of the evening, a crab cake with a side of fries.
The ribs were cooked for hours and had a great barbecue flavor but there was a shortage of meat. The crabcake was presented artfully on the plate. It had a very good flavor but it lacked any large pieces of crab meat. The side order of french fries were not delivered timely with the meal and we had to remind the server. The fries were presented in an upright holder. Very pretty and I had to order a beer to enjoy them.
My fellow diner enjoyed the Keylime pie to finish and it was very good.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Jack’s on Pearl is Good. It has a beautiful dining area and we had great service but the food entrees dropped the ratings. Since it has been open for only a couple of months we hope things improve.
