Mile High Dining is in Atlanta visiting my sister to help spring clean and celebrate her birthday. So we went to Aria which has been nominated for both a Michelin and James Beard Foundation award for outstanding hospitality. The menu is focused on American style dishes including salads, seafood, and short ribs. I enjoyed the wine list as one is able to try 2.5 oz. pour of one of their reserve wines.
As for food, the server gave us an enthusiastic summary of the dishes. My sister’s menu even included a written Happy Birthday wish! For starters we shared the bread service but nothing special. Our pear and arugula salad and my beet salads were delicious and very fresh. The beets were sitting in a layer of yogurt which was unique. I enjoyed an extra dish of a jumbo crab cake with tomatoes, beans, and cabbage piled on top.
For entrees, my sister’s mountain trout had okra, tomatoes, and red peas from South Carolina. My pan seared sea scallops has celery root, sun chokes and sitting in brown butter. Each entree was rated good.
Lastly, they presented my sister with a plate of sweets to celebrate her birthday
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Aria is Very Good. Additionally, the service was superb.
