On a very cold morning, Mile High Dining and friend visited two bakeries, Devil’s Food and La Fillette. Our goal was to enjoy a hot coffee and a sweet pastry and not complain about the cold and snowy weather and we succeeded.
Our first visit was to the Devil’s Food bakery, located in a remodeled hundred year-old commercial building with limited seating, but it was filled with customers. We each had a hot coffee and a pastry. I had the almond croissant which was good, but not great as it lacked the French style of flaky layers. My friend enjoyed the cranberry and almond Rugelach-style roll and rated it good.
The second visit was to La Fillette bakery, which is in a small strip mall and again filled with customers. My blueberry muffin was very good with lots of blueberries. The other pastry was the strawberry danish which looked and tasted good.
Enjoy a morning coffee and a snack so you don’t complain about the cold and snowy weather.
