Riot BBQ

Riot BBQ is a traditional Texan style barbecue with a Mexican touch. It’s named after the Barbecue Riot of 1898 in Denver. A crowd of 30,000 rioted over free food. On Sunday when I ate at Riot BBQ it was much calmer and we even were presented with a live country music performance.

As for barbecue, the meats include beef, pork, chicken and turkey. Many side options are available such as cornbread, rice, cole slaw, mac and cheese, beans, potato salad, and collard greens.

I choose the Quarter chicken Pibil which is a slow smoked leg quarter with bone but marinated with citrus and a side of beans. The chicken had a great flavor but was very difficult to cut apart with a dull knife. The side of beans with a tasty sauce and bits of meat was very good and filling.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for the Riot BBQ is Good.
