Hana Matsuri

We attended the Bluefin Tuna Carving dinner and a costume party for Halloween at Hana Matsuri. Mile High Dining and friend went as military officers but “Not ICE”. Dinner was a 10 course chef’s menu of seafood topped by a 200 pound Bluefin tuna that was carved right before our eyes. The 10 courses included oysters, scallops, crab, and lots of different types of fish. We enjoyed a “saki bomb”.

As for costumes, my military outfit included a “Not ICE” sign and several other diners asked if they could take a photo!

Since we love seafood we especially enjoyed the oysters, sashimi, scallops, and the bluefin tuna. Also, with the tuna meat shaved from the bones we enjoyed several small sushi rolls! A bluefin tuna weighing 200 lbs.costs thousands of dollars and of course it took home the best dish of the evening award.

By the way, a “saki bomb” is when a shot of saki is balanced on the glass sitting on chopping sticks and then you pound the table until it falls into the glass of beer and you gulp it!

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Hana Matsuri and a Bluefin Tuna Carving dinner is Very Good.
