Mile High Dining enjoyed a golf outing to St Andrews, Scotland. It’s the golf capital of the world with four courses built right around the Old Course. We were lucky and ate at the restaurant 18 overlooking the 18th hole of the Old Course, which is considered the oldest in the world as it opened in 1552.
The five of us loved the outside balcony before our meal by watching the golfers below. As for food, we started with a local beer, St Andrews yippee IPA, which was a good way to forget your bad golf shots. Several had the roasted scallop, which was one scallop sitting in a large clamshell. Others had the salmon ravioli. Both presentations exceeded the taste of the food. The cheese soufflé was the best dish of the evening as it was very flavorable. As for a main dish, I had the roasted halibut which was a good light fish. Another had the ribeye steak, which had a good steak taste, and it was tender. There were several skin on fries to share among the group.
Overall, a beautiful setting with a view of the oldest golf course, which exceeded the food. Check out the painted ceiling of golfers while you dine.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for the 18 at St. Andrews is Good.
