Mile High Dining and two others dined at The Village Pub, a Michelin starred restaurant about 30 miles south of San Francisco. While visiting my grandchildren, the parents and I sneaked out one night without the kids. The restaurant has received a Star for the past 12 consecutive years. It’s an upscale restaurant in a quaint neighborhood.
The restaurant features a three plate fixed price menu with several supplemental dishes. The parents had the black cod entrée while I had the pan seared salmon. First, one started with the cavatelli pasta with truffles from Australia, the other had raviolleti and I had the tomato salad which was prepared table side. The three starting dishes were rated as delicious and very good.
The three main plates of fish were also good while my salmon was the hit of the evening. The cod looked great but was very plain tasting. Sadly, the dessert beignets were not light and fluffy like ones prepared in New Orleans. They were disguised donuts. The two cheese plates that are supplemental were rated just average after considering the surcharge.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for The Village Pub is Good as the desserts dropped the ratings.
