Buckhorn Exchange

The Buckhorn Exchange is the oldest continuously operated restaurant in Denver since 1893. It’s filled with stuffed heads of animals and birds. Many famous people have visited and eaten as we were sitting at the table where Princess Anne ate. It’s a unique dining experience while the food was so-so.

The three of us had a dinner entrée with a side salad. One had the two quails, the other had the elk and Cornish hen, and I had the buffalo and elk. We agreed the side garden salad with the blue cheese was the best dish of the evening. For example, my buffalo and elk steaks were paired with a baked potato. The meat had great flavor, but it was too tough while they baked potato was severely undercooked. The other two dishes produced similar comments.

When you visit, enjoy the ambience of this unique place and don’t expect much from the food.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for the Buckhorn Exchange is Good.
