On my trip to Pennsylvania, we ate at Morcilla, a Spanish restaurant. The restaurant reservation company, Open Table, list it as one of the best restaurants in America. We certainly enjoyed not only the food, but also the good service.
The food included artichokes, oxtail, cheese, beef tartare, crab, and asparagus. The fried artichokes are small ones that are quartered and completely deep fried. With the added aïoli sauce, the artichokes were soft and good tasting. The three of us loved the oxtail with onion and cheese a top a small baguette.
The beef tartare looked very good, but ours needed more pickled ramps and horseradish. The goat cheese dish with four different cheeses with honey and warm bread was delicious. My favorite dish of the evening was the softshell crab, which is very hard to find in Denver. It was crispy and flavorful. The three of us will definitely return to Morcilla.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Morcilla is Very Good.
