On my way home on a beautiful Friday afternoon, Mile High Dining stopped at Cuba Cuba in Glendale for a snack. I have driven by Cuba Cuba many times and never realized they have an outside patio. Since it was 82°, I sat outside in the sun with just a little shade. Cuba Cuba has five other restaurants in the greater Denver area.
I ordered a Cuban style beer, two empanadas and a dessert. The beer, Cerva Hatney is a light Cuban style beer brewed in Miami, Florida. A good taste for a warm afternoon. The mushroom and ground beef empanadas are pastry turnovers. The mushroom was very good as the flavor was well matched for a warm afternoon. The ground beef was just okay as it tasted too much like a hamburger. I wanted a Cuban flavor.
Finally, for dessert I had the small flan. The custard dessert with caramel sauce was a fit way to finish the snack.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Cuba Cuba is Good. I will return this summer for a Cuban pork sandwich.
