After a visit to the Alamo, Mile High Dining and two friends ate at the Grist Mill River restaurant near San Antonio. It’s an 1878 cotton gin building with a large patio and a river view. We enjoyed sitting outside with lots of shade.
I enjoyed the non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri since it was warm outside. Others had an iced tea. The grilled chicken salad was very large in size and was rated good. The second dish was the fried shrimp with a side salad. There was even enough side salad to share.
I had the best dish, fried chicken with coleslaw. The bone in chicken breast was Texas size and had a delicious smoked flavor. I was able to eat half of the chicken breast and the other half went home.
It’s always enjoyable to eat with longtime friends and sit outside with warm Texas weather.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for the Grist Mill River is Good.
