We are off to check out one of the newest restaurants next to Sloan‘s lake, Gusto. It’s the newest five restaurants operated by Lon Symensma. Gusto is a casual Italian place with even several tables outdoors. The dishes include pizza, pasta, and lots of salad and anti-pasta selections.
The two of us shared the fritto misto ( fried calamari ) which had shrimp and calamari with a spicy dipping sauce. The shrimp were delicious, but the calamari were so thinly sliced you could only taste the fried batter.
My neighbor had the mafaldine alla nerano which is spaghetti style noodles and roasted zucchini. The zucchini look great but lack flavor.
My dish was the gnocchi formaggio which was the hit of the evening. The gnocchi was flavorful and surrounded by slices of pears. It was a very good dish.
Sadly, we had to wait over 25 minutes to order food or even a drink.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Gusto is Good.
