The Fort

On another snowy Saturday evening, two of us ventured to the classic Fort restaurant. It celebrates its 61st birthday this year. The restaurant is modeled after the historic Fort Bent in southern Colorado. The food selection focuses on steak and potatoes. Besides the food, we were entertained by a flute player and another selling abalone shells.

I ordered the Buffalo Marrow bones and Buffalo prime rib, the evening special. My friend had the Idaho trout. First, the two giant Buffalo marrow bones are served with small slices of toast. You scoop out the marrow and eat with the toast. Sadly, the bones were a little too greasy. The prime rib had mashed potato and green beans. The prime rib was good but not tender enough. The potatoes were excellent. My friend’s Idaho Trout was very good as the trout had spices that added an extra flavor. Also, the trout had sides of rice and green beans.

Sadly, we were overbilled and it took almost 12 minutes to correct their error.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for The Fort restaurant is Good. You will love the building and the entertainment which sets the restaurant on a different level.
