The newest Illegal Pete’s took over Golds Marketplace that was a corner grocery store for decades. Mile High Dining and a friend found a very busy place as we had to wait in line for about 20 minutes, but it was worth it. After living in this neighborhood for years it was nice to be back.
Illegal Pete’s started in Boulder and now has about a dozen locations including ones in Arizona.
We enjoyed a burrito and taquitos and and each had soda. There is a bar serving your favorite beer or margaritas. The chicken burrito is very large and was filled with many different options you choose in the cafeteria line. It was rated very good.
Mile High Dining selected chicken taquitos, which was a new dish for me. Essentially, they are rolled tacos and then fried and then covered with options like cheese and salsa. You have to wait as they are prepared separately from the cafeteria. They were delicious and rated very good.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Illegal Pete’s at Golds is Good. When you can have a good Mexican dish and a soda for about $10, it’s a bargain.
