Mile High Dining went to a very new place, Yuan Wonton. The owner/chef, Penelope Wong, was operating a food truck til several months ago. Yuan Wonton now has a permanent location but shares the place with two other restaurants, a Vietnamese and a bakery. Therefore the days and hours the restaurant is open are very limited to Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Friday days. Since I did not have a reservation, I was allowed to sit at the one open seat at the counter.
I ordered tea and chicken wontons. First, the Hot Green Jasmine tea was lovely since it was a cold evening.
The main dish was Khao Soi Chicken Wontons. The eight wontons arrived in a bowl and had a great presentation with the green shoots, some small sliced peppers, and broth. The wontons were delicious with just a touch of spice from the peppers. Now I understand why Ms. Wong had so many followers of her food truck.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Yuan Wonton is Good. I suggest you plan ahead with a reservation on Instagram.
