Mile High Dining went out to celebrate the Dia De Los Muertos at Toro. The restaurant was well decorated to honor loved ones who had passed away. Toro even had a small menu focused on the holiday. I chose the Empanadas De Muertos and a mezcal from Mexico. My friend had the Al Pastor tacos and a club soda with lime.
The empanadas had guajillo ( chile pepper sauce ), corn masa, cheese, chicken tinga, and an avocado-cilantro puree. They were crispy and good with just a touch of spicy.
The Al Pastor Zucchini tacos had grilled pineapple, zucchini strips and achiote adobo ( a mild flavored chile and garlic sauce). A beautiful presentation on the plate and a good tasting taco.
The thoughtful decorations for the holiday included a lit candle with food and flowers to honor a loved one who has died.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Toro is Good.
