Mile High Dining went to one of the newest restaurants in Denver, Jacques. It’s a causal French restaurant with a boring outside but a lovely well decorated inside. The menu is extensive from small plates to large plates for sharing such as bouillabaisse.
We each started with a small plate. I had the French onion soup that was delicious especially with all the cheese. My friend had the beet salad with horseradish and yogurt. A beautiful presentation.
My main dish was the Mussels sitting in the herb cream sauce. It was very good. While the other had the Scallops with turnips. The scallops were good but the young turnips were just OK. We each shared a potato dish in which the potatoes are shaved and formed into a block topped with Beurre Blanc along with herb oil. Very pretty.
We each finished with a half sip of cognac. Overall, the service was very good except for one small lapse. Even the head chef and part owner came out to check on our table several times to make sure things were going well.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The Verdict ⚖️ for Jacques is Very Good.
