Mile High Dining went to a wine class with Denver University to test Old World wines (essentially Europe) versus New World wines (United States).
We tried 6 different wines covering Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The first test was a Chardonnay from CA. versus a Domaine Chablis from France. The US wine won easily as it had a good citrus flavor. The wine is Fogscape Chardonnay.
The second test was a Pinot Noir from Oregon versus a French Bourgogne Rouge. Once again, the New World wins. The Klee Pinot Noir had lots of flavor.
The third test was a Cabernet from Napa called Silver Ghost that has a connection to Rolls-Royce versus a wine from Israel. The Old World wine finally wins. The Vineyard is in upper Galilee Israel and it’s 4000 feet above sea level. The Galil Mountain Winery had a strong pepper flavor.
Not your typical college class !
