Snack Day

Mile High Dining went out for two snacks on the same afternoon for a different type of dining day. I wanted to try foods I would not even try to make at home, gumbo and aracini.

First off to JAX Fish House and Oyster Bar. A cup of gumbo and oyster shooter. The gumbo was delicious. It had shrimp, Andouille sausage, rice, and scallions. Very flavorable! The oyster shooter had vodka, bloody Mary mix, fresh lemon, and an oyster sitting on the bottom. I had never had an oyster shooter before and it’s my last one.

The second snack was at The Ponti. Arancini is simply a fried rice ball but I could not make one. There were 4 small balls sitting in a green herb sauce. The rice mixed with the herbs was very good. I paired it with a strong Malbec wine, much better than the oyster shooter.

No review but just a lovely afternoon in Denver!
