Mile High Dining and two others went to Beckon to enjoy the 8 course Chef’s menu. Beckon is a foodie’s heaven as you even sit at the Chef’s counter and eat a wide range of food. We had trout, asparagus, octopus, duck, lamb, and strawberry with chocolate and rhubarb for dessert. The small plates can even be paired with wine and waygu steak options.
A tasting of rhubarb spritz starts the evening. The sea trout and roe provided a taste of the sea. Next was the white asparagus and caviar. The octopus returned us to the sea along with the black cod dish. The Pekin duck and lamb provided the meat selection. The lamb and cod were excellent tasting and voted the 2 best dishes of the evening. All were small plates except the lamb chop was good-sized.
The 2 desserts were different. First, a taste of strawberry and vanilla. I opted for the brie cheese rather than the main dessert of chocolate, rhubarb, and pistachios which was a light and summery dessert. The cheese was paired with honey. Delicious.
Overall, the service was exemplary as each dish was explained in detail even mentioning the small flowers. We also received help to match wine with some dishes.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Beckon is Excellent. It’s expensive but worth a special evening to celebrate life.
