Off to the southern suburbs to the Sierra restaurant. It’s a very large restaurant featuring both American and Mexican dishes, from steaks to tacos. The owners started with the small original Mexican restaurant, La Loma, on 26th Ave, and now operate Sierra which seats almost 300!
Disappointingly we were seated on the enclosed patio and sitting right under a heater. The heat was way too hot and we had to ask several times to turn it down or off. The patio seating is dull compared to the main dining area.
The three of us started with a margarita and I had the jalapeno margarita. It was just a little spicy. We shared the guacamole and chips with our drinks.
One had the Tuscan kale salad which had slices of avocados and apples, candied walnuts, and a vinaigrette dressing. It was large and a good-tasting salad.
The second dish was the Santa Fe enchiladas with chicken, salas with beans, and rice. It was rated very good.
I had the crispy chile rellenos that were smothered in cheese with a side of beans and a large side of rice. The chiles were very good but a little too much rice.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for the Sierra is Good. When you visit make sure you are seated in the main dining area and not the patio. We recommend a reservation as it was packed on our Saturday visit.
