Mile High Dining went hipster and sat at the counter at Uncle- Wash Park. After taking a class at the University of Denver about Japanese food, we were off to Uncle. It’s a lively place and the servers were helpful for selection of the food and drinks. Sitting at the counter and watching the chefs work was the place to be.
We each had a can of sake that was mild tasting and low in alcohol, a good start.
The two of us shared the crispy eggplant buns. The eggplant is sliced, then breaded and deep-fried. It sits on the bun with lots of shredded red cabbage. It’s a pretty presentation, and a surprisingly good taste.
One had the Thai shrimp. The three large shrimp are grilled and presented with crispy rice, pineapple, and peanuts. It’s a little spicy but good.
I had the spicy chicken Roman noodle bowl with lots of chicken, bean sprouts, and even a soft boiled egg sitting on top. It’s a delicious large bowl of hot noodles, perfect for a cold and snowy evening. There is even enough broth to bring home to start my own vegetable soup.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Uncle is Very Good.
