Champagne tasting was a new treat for Mile High Dining. We learned about sparkling wines from around the world but focused on champagne from France. Total Wine did a good job and presented us 8 different wines ranging in price from $12.00 to $200.00 per bottle.
I selected 4 from Champagne France. The word champagne is protected by the French government. Other countries call it sparkling wine, cava, or prosecco. The production process of making champagne was created by a Bendentine monk, Dom Perignon, in the 17th century.
After several tastings, one begins to enjoy the light and bubbly texture of champagne. In the State of Colorado, you are limited to four 1 oz. sips of wine or champagne. Additionally, everyone was given a lesson on how to open a bottle of champagne and it’s not how I have done it. We enjoyed the evening!
