Chez Maggy is a new restaurant serving French style food. It’s located at the new Thompson Hotel on the ground floor with a lovely high ceiling and lots of windows. The chef has won many awards and since his wife is from Colorado, it’s kind of a return home.
We each had a main dish and shared the salad. The Julienne carrot salad with pistachios and a lime cilantro dressing was very good. The more you ate the more you enjoyed the sour lime dressing.
The trout almandine was covered with many sliced almonds that had been prepared with butter. The fish was sitting on a mound of rice pilaf. The dish was delicious!
The classic French dish of mussels with frites had some of the best French fries as they were very crispy! The mussels were prepared in a white wine and shallots broth producing a very mild flavor. The server warned me but the mussels needed some extra spice.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Chez Maggy is Very Good! The service was very attentive. It’s not cheap but in line with the good food.
