Zoe Ma Ma Union Station

We enjoyed Chinese food at Zoe Ma Ma at Union Station. The owner, Edwin Zoe, was nominated by the James Beard Foundation as an outstanding restauranteur. Currently he operates 4 restaurants, 2 in Boulder and 2 in Denver. Upon entry, the chalk board above the counter lists the dishes for the day. The primary choices are noodle based.

We shared 3 noodle dishes and each had the shrimp dumplings. Sadly, no potsticker dumplings were available.

The Za Jiang Mian is egg noodles topped with pork and vegetables. A good presentation but we had to ask to get extra soy sauce. The sauce greatly improved the bowl of noodles.

The Dan Dan Mian is egg noodles with spicy pork, Bok choy, and with a little extra broth. Again we asked for extra soy sauce. We enjoyed the spicy pork flavor with the noodles.

The third large bowl was the Cool Sesame Noodles. Lots of egg noodles, tofu, julienne cucumbers and bean sprouts. It was a little tame in flavor.

The last dish was the shrimp Shumai . It’s shrimp warped and then steamed. Since there were no potstickers available we settled for the shrimp but we were disappointed as the shrimp had very little flavor.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Zoe Ma Ma is Good. We recommend the Za Jiang and the Dan Dan with extra soy sauce.
