Mile High Dining recommends 5 local restaurants headed by chefs given national recognition by the James Beard Foundation as a Best/Emerging Chef! James Beard was a chef, author, and tv personality. His memory is honored by the Awards which recognizes chefs and restaurants across the US. The five chefs and their restaurants and my favorite dishes are listed in alphabetical order. Mile High Dining was one of the few to enjoy this food tour of the 5 chefs. Start yours!
1. Jose Avila at El Borrego but you want to try the restaurant La Diabla Pozole y Mezcal as El Borrego is a Sunday only pig roast. At La Diabla you will love the pozole soup and a flight of mezcal.

2. Manny Barella at Bellota, order the quietes, which is corn cooked Rissotto style with cream and also the Chile relleno. Delicious!

3. Cody Cheetham at Tavernetta . We enjoyed the fruit salad and the service. The white asparagus is a very good springtime dish.

4. Caroline Glover at Annette’s. The selection from fresh mussels to pork schnitzel is first rate. You will enjoy.

5. Dana Rodriquez at Work & Class presents great American style dishes with a Latin flavor. The massive salad and the rotisserie chicken are excellent!
