We went to one of Mile High Dining’s favorite spots, Annette’s. The chef/owner , Caroline Glover, received another James Beard Foundation nomination as one of the best chefs! It’s located in the vibrant Stanley Marketplace. Her menu is very expansive and provides choices from fresh oysters to pork schnitzel. They even use a wood fired grill for many dishes. But first we enjoyed a glass of wine, Land of Saints, produced by women winemakers.
The appetizers of deviled eggs made not only a good presentation, they tasted light and delicious. Very little mayonnaise was used leaving a tangy flavor.
Two diners shared the the large size portion of pork schnitzel. One diner who has lived in Germany rated it as an excellent dish. It was certainly large enough for two to enjoy. The server even warned us it was a plate meant to share. A side of horseradish cream and a small green salad added a nice touch.
I had the mussels ( moules frites) with a side bowl of fries. The mussels were sitting in a cream fraiche with shallots sauce. The mussels were very good. The side of fries were very large in size and good tasting.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Annette’s is Very Good.
