Mile High Dining went to charming French bistro, Bon Ami. We sat next to the open kitchen which is always good for a show. It’s located on a busy street but is well protected from the traffic noise. When warmer weather returns, we are looking forward to sit outside in the pretty patio area. The menu provides lots of options including crêpes and other classic French dishes.
We ordered the mussels in the spicy tomato broth, onion soup with cheese, and the vegetarian dish of the night.
The mussels with the mildly spicy tomato broth comes in a large bowl filled with lots of mussels. We definitely needed the extra bread to help with the broth. The mussels were good but undersized. The tomato broth saved the dish.
The onion soup with a cheesy toast covering was good. A great dish for the winter time.
Neither of us could handle dessert as the mussels and the vegetarian dish filled us.
The other main dish was the chef’s dish of the day, a vegetarian bowl of different types of veggies with a light cream base. The asparagus with a touch of parmesan cheese was very good.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for the Bon Ami is Good. Remember it’s a small bistro and not a fancy upscale restaurant but the food is very good.
