Cuba Cuba Cafe & Bar

Mile High Dining went to the Golden Triangle to enjoy Cuban food at Cuba Cuba. It’s one of the few Cuban restaurants in Denver. Housed in two old remodeled brick homes. On a Saturday night, it was very crowded with almost every table taken. We were entertained by our neighbor’s young son, who was playing under their table all night long with his cell phone. It is a women owned and family run business. They also operate several sandwich shops throughout the Denver area.

We started with a Cuba Cuba margarita and a Lolita. The latter is tequila with lime and jalapeño peppers. It was strong and delicious.

The first dish was Canarones Al Coco, pan-seared shrimp with sofrito (spicy vegetable mix ) and mashed potatoes. The shrimp sitting in the light and spicy broth was very good. It is described as a Colrado favorite and it was!

The other main dish was paella. It was an extra-large size of shrimp, calamari, mussels, chicken, vegetables, and lots of rice. Enough for a take-home meal. Our server even recommended enjoying lunch the next day. She was correct as it tasted better.

A side of the tostsdas ( Cuban bread) was warm with a great flavor.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Cuba Cuba is Very Good. Please note they do not take reservations for any group under 6 people. A very friendly place with good food! We continue our streak of eating at locally-owned restaurants.
