Coohills is a dramatic bar and lounge serving French inspired food, owned and operated by a husband and wife team, Tom and Diane Coohills. It’s been open about 10 years on a busy corner not far from the Ball Arena.
We enjoyed a light dinner of crabcake, seafood board, roasted carrots, and house made bread.
The house made bread with truffle butter is tops. The soft and flavorful butter with the bread is a great way to start!
The seafood board has smoked salmon sitting on a mild sauce, pickled shrimp, small pickles and white onions, and crispy rice crackers. The shrimp and cocktail sauce were very good. The combination of little pickles and the mild-flavored sauce made the salmon.
The crabcake sitting in a bowl of potato galette was very well presented. The crabcake itself was good but it isn’t gently priced.
The espresso roasted carrots with cauliflower purée were excellent. The fire-roasted carrots were the best dish of the evening.
The one drawback at Coohills was service staff were stretched thin. Mile High Dining suggests that you sit at the bar as the bartenders are much friendlier and have the time for better service.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Coohils is Very Good. Though the service wasn’t perfect, we loved the food!
