The Duo restaurant is one of the most familiar restaurants in Denver as it celebrates its 17th year in business. They specialize in Colorado farms and suppliers. It’s in an old converted commercial building with high brick walls. With the wood floors and little steps, the building makes you feel like you’re going home to visit your grandmother.
We enjoyed the arancini, salad, duck, and fish with a glass of wine. The squash arancini are filled with fontina cheese and squash and is served with a mild-flavored chili on top. Presented with a hot temperature, this starter dish was delicious. It not only looked good but the warm cheese and squash tasted very good.
The other starter dish of butter lemon salad with sliced pears, cheese, hazelnuts, and covered in a vinaigrette is large, enough for two people to share. They even substituted the blue cheese for goat cheese and it was enjoyed.
We tried a new entrée, duck breast. The duck was presented with celery root and sitting on a bed of Farro with small pieces of broccolini. The duck was good but the Farro was very good.
The other entrée was the market fish of the evening, Monk fish. It is served with roasted celery root, cabbage, and rice puffs on top. Even though it was a little spicy it was very good tasting. The spice helped the mild flavored monk fish.
To finish the meal they even allowed a half a glass of port wine. It was a great way to end a good meal.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict for the Duo Restaurant is Very Good.
