The Pig & The Sprout

On the busiest night of the year, we had dinner at The Pig & The Sprout. The extra large crowd was due to a Halloween bar crawl and that chose this restaurant as their start. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the service and food but not the wall-to-wall people in costumes.

We shared two small plates to start, Brussel sprouts and pig chips. The sprouts were crispy and had sunflower seeds and Parmesan cheese. They were a little spicy but just right to share. The pig chips had a bland taste with lots of spices on top.

The fried green tomatoes with a salad of arugula lettuce with pickled onions and feta cheese was delicious. It was one of the better fried green tomato dishes we have found in Denver.

The mushroom tacos were from the vegetable side of the menu and included bell peppers, cilantro, radishes, and fried crispy mushrooms on a taco shell. These a very good vegetable-based taco.

The last dish was the evening was the grilled cheese with extra avocado and a side cup of creamy tomato soup. The tomato soup was excellent as it was thick and creamy. The grilled cheese wasn’t bad at all.

We even had the jalapeño infused tequila mule drink. It was extra strong but perfect for a Halloween weekend. It had a lime and ginger beer to help soften the pepper taste.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for The Pig & The Sprout is Very Good. Despite the overflowing crowd, we appreciated the service and loved the food.
