Zaidy’s Deli

Zaidy’s Deli reopened under new ownership and location after 30 years in Cherry Creek. Mile High Dining arrived at lunch time and had to wait with many others. It’s located in a strip mall but once inside it is inviting. We ate out on the small patio as a table opened up. It’s similar in size to the old location but has a bar area and a large food counter. Plus there is plenty of parking.

The three of us selected several dishes, bagel with lox and melted cheese, chicken Matzo soup, deviled eggs, Latkes with lox, fresh fruit, and a latte and Mimosa.

The bagel with lox and melted cheese was a different presentation of the classic Jewish breakfast. The bagel has cream cheese, lox, tomatoes, onions and capers then it’s topped with cheese and heated. The melted cheese holds everything together but dominates the taste. Good but not great.

The chicken Matzo soup bowl is Jewish penicillin with chicken, a large Matzo ball, and noodles. A very good presentation and a taste a match.

The two side dishes included six deviled eggs that look great on the plate and had the classic taste. The other dish was the bagel with a schmear of cream cheese. The fresh fruit was added with the bagel and was delicious.

The two large latkes come with the traditional bagel toppings of cream cheese, tomatoes, onions, capers and lox. It’s enough food for two people. The latkes cover the toppings but can be opened and feast on the bagel ingredients.

The drinks of the latte and the Mimosa had a good and poor review. The Mimosa hit the spot while the latte was too sweet to enjoy the coffee flavor.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Zaidy’s Deli is Very Good.

Stick with the chicken Matzo ball soup, a bagel with a schmear and fresh fruit and you will enjoy the morning.
