Mister Oso

Mile High Dining recently visited Mister Oso, part of the Culinary Creative Group that operates almost a dozen restaurants around Denver. Once again, we were the two old folks in a young person’s neighborhood. The restaurant was packed, so reservations are highly recommended. It’s a smaller-sized Upscale Mexican-inspired restaurant and has an outdoor patio and bar.

As for food, we enjoyed guacamole and chips, cebiche, empanadas, and tacos with a margarita.

The house margaritas are beautiful to look at and are not sweet, making them an excellent summer drink. Matched with the guacamole and chips a great ‘south of the border’ tradition. This guacamole has added pumpkin seeds and pistachio salsa.

The empanadas are filled with barbecue chicken, cheese, and poblano tomatillo cream. They were delivered to the table still hot but with the side of cream for dipping, and were excellent.

The hibiscus cebiche included tuna, citrus slices, chili, avocados, and sliced radishes. It was served with several extra large chips. A great summer dish to cool down.

The main dish of two tacos were served on a platter to assemble yourself. The pastor taco has roasted cauliflower, pineapple, chili, and salsa with two tortillas. It was very spicy. The other taco was the Pollo Frito which has buttermilk fried chicken with pickled green tomatoes. More than enough chicken to fill the remaining two tortillas. It was a very good taste especially with the side of the tomatillo cream and fresh limes.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Mister Oso is Very Good. Enjoy the upmarket Mexican and Latin American food with very good service to match. Just the small order of empanadas and the margaritas will make you happy.
