Fish N Beer

Fish N Beer is one of the smaller-sized restaurants in Denver but has lots of seafood and beer. Don’t be fooled by the name. Mile High Dining enjoyed watching the chefs use a wood fire to grill just about everyone’s dish. It’s an open kitchen next to the bar and your kitchen at home is probably bigger. We started with the Brain Fog hazy IPA and my fellow diner had the frozen pain killer cocktail.

The wood-grilled artichoke first is steamed in the morning, then grilled. It’s served with lemon aioli and enjoyed by both of us.

The coal roasted mussels with shallots, tomatoes, Pilsner beer broth, and grilled bread were good. The best part was eating the bread after dipping it in the hot broth!

The special for the evening was Scarlett snapper ceviche with avocados, pineapple, and lots of chips. The Scarlett snapper is a cousin of the red snapper. The addition of the pineapple in the ceviche adds a different and great flavor. One can easily enjoy the summer heat with this dish.

After finishing the double hazy IPA, we enjoyed a tribute beer to Russia and enjoyed a “ Shirtless Putin Catching Rays”, a dark style lager. A perfect beer for the entree of baked Pacific Rockfish stuffed with crab and sitting on broccolini. Fish and crab, a great way to finish.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Fish N Beer is Very Good. Although it is loud and boisterous, it’s a fun place. Also, plan as reservations are needed.
