Coperta

To start Denver Restaurant Week, Mile High Dining went to Coperta to enjoy an Italian takeaway meal. Coperta just reopened after months of closure due to Covid rules. With great outdoor seating, you can enjoy a view of the vibrant Uptown neighborhood.

We selected from the Denver Restaurant Week menu fried green tomatoes, Bucatini, eggplant parmesan, and budino. We also added from the regular menu a salad and a cheese plate.

The Cialda salad with complimentary bread was spring-time good. Crisp lettuce and sliced onions and other thinly sliced veggies made a great salad large enough for two to share.

The two extra thick fried green tomatoes are covered in breadcrumbs and deep-fried. The green tomato taste still came through. Not bad, Georgia still has the best fried green tomatoes.

The Bucatini with tomato sauce, sliced red onions and pork jowl was delicious. Bucatini is a thick spaghetti with a hole running through the center. The added black pepper and spices provide a great flavor.

The eggplant parmesan was disappointing as the eggplant was too soggy. The dish had a very good taste with the Mozzarella cheese and tomatoes but lost due to eggplants themselves. A continuing problem with takeaway meals.

My ratings are : It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Coperta is Good. Select the Bucatini and a glass of strong red wine and you will be happy.
