Mile High Dining went to a new deli in the Highlands. Dimestore Delibar is a full-service deli with a full-service bar. We ordered online for another takeaway meal. You are old if you remember actual “dime stores”.
The Highlands neighborhood was packed this spring day with people at the breweries. We had to walk several blocks after finding a parking space.
Our order included the following: tuna roll sandwich and chips, vegetable plate and pita bread, and a kale salad. For dessert, we ate the apple pie Mile High Dining made at home earlier.
The Spicy tuna Dimestore roll had sushi-grade tuna, avocado, cucumber, crusty rice, packed into a large bread roll. The tuna was very good but the large bread roll dominated the flavors as it was too large to enjoy the tuna.
The Dimestore green salad with baby kale, sliced apples, pepitas, crackers, and a vinaigrette dressing was disappointing as the kale had extra-large stems and was partially wilted. It looked great but it was not a good dish.
Lastly, the Mediterranean vegetable plate had curried lentils dip, date pine nut crumble, pickled cauliflower, eggplant, and a beautiful housemade loaf of pita bread. The pita bread was still warm when we opened it at home. It had very good taste but the occasional vegetables were lost on the plate.
Additionally, the deli serves meats, eggs, cheese, sauces, dairy products, coffee, and lots of drinks with or without alcohol. The only thing we could not find was bagels.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for the Dimestore Delibar is It’s OK.
