Perdida is a restaurant serving upscale Mexican food located in Wash Park in the remodeled Tavern location opened in February 2021. First of all, perdida means an immoral woman in Spanish. It’s a very large restaurant seating 225 indoor and outdoors. The owners also operate other restaurants in Denver including Park Burger, Birdcall, and Homegrown Tap and Dough.
The food is based upon coastal Baja Mexico with lots of fish on the menu. It includes seared scallops, ribeye steaks, and striped whole bass. Not your common Mexican joint and Mile High Dining just had to try this new restaurant.
Our online order included guacamole and chips, house salad, fish tacos, shrimp, slaw, and a house margarita for another take away meal.
The guacamole and chips had an extra large serving of chips and although the guacamole was good, it was too small amount for all the chips.
The house salad had a lettuce, avocados, watermelon radish, tomatoes, and peppers. It made a very good presentation and a great taste to match.
The two grilled fish tacos had chili rubbed mahi-mahi fish with cilantro, lime, and a slaw. Very good taste but by the time we got home, the tortillas were too soggy and the tacos fell apart. It’s suggested that takeaway tacos need to add a lettuce leaf on top of the tortilla as I had to use a fork to eat the tacos.
The main entrée of the Diablo shrimp had extra-large shrimp with cilantro cauliflower rice. The shrimp were a little spicy but the puréed cauliflower made a great combination. A very good dish.
Lasly, after we opened the takeaway bag, there was no house margarita. We had to call the restaurant and they issued a refund but it was so disappointing not to have the margarita.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for the Perdida is Good.
