Bar Dough is a casual Italian restaurant located in the Highlands. It’s part of the Max Mackissock’s empire of local restaurants such as Senor Bear , Morin, and others. Mile High Dining enjoyed curbside pickup for takeaway meal #36. We ordered online and arrived a few minutes early as there was no traffic. The outside tables have heaters and they were packed. They even have small greenhouse is for outside dining.
Mile High Dining ordered pizza, salad, meat and cheese board, extra olives and a pint of tomato sauce for future use.
The meat and cheese tray had two meats and two cheeses, fruit (plum) preserves, olives, but no crackers or bread. The two soft cheeses were very good and the meat was salami-based and had a good zesty flavor. The plum reserves were the best. Although we were promised crackers, none were provided.
The winter salad with kale and lettuce, apple slices, walnuts, and cheese was delicious and easily the best dish of the meal as the vinaigrette dressing was tops.
The margarita pizza had tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil. Mile High Dining added it’s own extra fresh basil from it’s indoor garden. Sadly, the pizza was disappointing as it lacked the classic Italian flavor. It was rated just good even after it was re-heated at home. It tasted like a pizza from one of the pizza chains and not from one of the better restaurants in Denver.
The ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Bar Dough is Good. It fell below the level of the other restaurants operated by Max Mackissock as Mile High Dining was expecting better flavored pizza.
