Frasca Food and Wine

Readers- Please make an extra effort to support your favorite restaurants, now that they may not have indoor dining this winter. Mile High Dining truly appreciates our local Denver restaurants.

Mile High Dining enjoyed Mexican Birria Tacos from Frasca Food and Wine on lockdown Sunday. Even a fancy restaurant will serve street food once in a while. The 6 tacos were the most expensive tacos we have ever eaten.

Tacos de Birria combines lamb and pork in a tomato and chili sauce. Different ingredients for the Denver taco scene. Additionally, there were corn tortillas and salsa, trés leches cake, and a bottle of syrah wine. The wine is from the Melville family in California and they donated 100% of the proceeds to the Independent Restaurant group. Please remember the takeaway meal had to be cooked at home but with the written instructions are easy to follow and fast.

The tacos with the extra lettuce, shaved root vegetables, and cotija cheese were delicious. They tasted much better with a Cerveza beer rather than the wine. The meats with the tomato and chili sauce were very favorable and not too spicy. You even try to dip one side of the tortilla in the sauce prior to serving.

The corn chips and salsa with onions and fresh parsley were a great side dish.

The two small trés leches cakes tasted much better than they looked.

Lastly, the syrah wine. It was a bold and full-bodied. Very enjoyable after the meal. Beer is more enjoyable when eating tacos!

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Birria tacos from Frasca Food and Wine is Very Good.
