Blue Island features oysters and seafood in Cherry Creek north. A small restaurant with great fresh seafood. They even have meat dishes for you, nonfish lovers. Mile High Dining enjoyed takeaway dinner # 33 and ordered using the telephone. Just like the old days. We selected four dishes: roasted oysters, mussels in wine sauce, fish and chips, and the simply prepared salmon. Pick up was easy as the restaurant has several parking spaces reserved for takeaway orders. The food was in 4 large plastics containers, so it looked good when you got home.
The 6 roasted oysters are prepared with Ritz crackers crumbs, parmesan cheese, and butter. Not cheap but very tasty and a very flavorful and a different way to enjoy oysters.
The steamed mussels in wine sauce with a side of grilled ciabatta bread were very good. The addition of lots of tomatoes made the dish look better. Also, you can order the mussels in curry sauce.
The cracker crusted fish and chips are a very large serving of fish and shoestring French fries with a side of coleslaw. A perfect dish for watching a football game as there is enough for two people or two halves of the game. Fish and chips are great for one who thinks fish taste too fishy. Our fish was a light tasting white fish.
The simply prepared Verlasso salmon has a lovely green chopped salad. The salmon is grilled, giving it a light outside crust while maintaining a slightly done inside. An excellent taste and easily the best dish of the evening. The side of potatoes is forgettable.
For dessert, Mile High Dining made a New York-style cherry cheesecake. That was a great ending to one of the windiest days in Denver.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
