To celebrate Colorado Restaurant Day on 9-12, Mile High Dining went to Tables Restaurant. It operated by a husband and wife team, Amy and Dustin Barrett. This Park Hill restaurant features American cuisine with a lovely patio and a large tent for expanded outdoor seating. Mile High Dining enjoyed takeaway dinner #24. One orders by telephone and must wait till the restaurant opens at 5:00 pm. We ordered 5 dishes: Ricotta and jam, Grilled Peaches and Peppers, Seared Scallops, Sun Flower Farinata, and the Key Lime Tart.
The presentation in the takeaway boxes was superb. In fact, you wanted to eat out of the box. For example, the peaches and peppers were placed on a layer of ricotta cheese in the box. Beautiful!
As for the Grilled Peaches and blistered Shishito Peppers, they were delicious .Once again, you can not go wrong with sweet summer peaches.
The Ricotta Cheese and Apricot Jam was the only disappointment of the evening. First, it was placed in an unappealing cup container. The Jam had a great fruit flavor but the cheese was lost without flavor.
The Seared Scallops with blistered tomatoes, radishes, and corn risotto had a beautiful presentation and the large scallops were delicious. They were cooked just right, with a sear on the outside and light inside.
The other main dish, Sunflower Seed Roasted Red Pepper Farinata with beets, hummus, and greens was a new dish for Mile High Dining. Farinata is a pancake made from chickpea flour. The Farinata was kind of soggy but that’s a problem with takeaway meals. The left overs the next day we’re actually better!
Lastly, the Key Lime Tart with ginger snap cookies was very tasty and the lime flavor was very good. Several wanted to have a Margarita drink.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The Verdict ⚖️ for Tables is Very Good.
