Cherry Cricket

The Cherry Cricket recently turned 75 years old. How many restaurants in Denver are as old as the Cricket? Mile High Dining enjoyed takeaway #18 and they have outdoor seating which is the place to be with a burger and a beer.

Over the years it has had multiple owners, but none as famous as Colorado’s former governor, John Hickenlooper, with his Wynkoop Brewery. Today, the Cherry Cricket is independly owned and has a second location near Coors Field.

Our food items we’re easy to order and included the following: chicken tenders, enchiladas, chicken sandwich, and of course, the green chili burger.

The Chicken Tenders were 5 large pieces hand-breaded with a special sauce added for dipping. They were okay but not great as they were over-fried.

The Three enchiladas with salsa had a very good presentation as the added lettuce gave a good appeal but taste-wise it was just okay.

Next, the Chicken Sandwich which included lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and a pickle improved the meal. The chicken was very good.

Lastly, the 303 Green Chili Burger with cheddar cheese, chili relleno, and extras including sliced avocado, lettuce, tomato, and pickles had a great presentation and a taste to match. It’s a large 1/2 pound burger, so dieters need to watch out.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The Verdict ⚖️ for the Cherry Cricket is Very Good provided you select one of the burgers and forget the chicken tenders and enchiladas.
