Mile High Dining enjoyed a large cook at home meal from Jax Fish House of mussels, gumbo, and crabcake. Seafood for landlocked Denver folks is always a treat especially during lock down days.
The Prince Edward Island mussels are quick and easy to prepare with Chardonnay, lemon, and garlic base. The included instruction sheet is walks you through the steps needed. 2 lbs. of extra large mussels were delicious! The highlight of the meal.
The Crawfish and Andouille sausage gumbo with green peppers, okra, scallions, and white rice was good. We did not provide enough time needed to fully fuze the flavors together.
The Jumbo Lump Crab cake with lemon aioli is a famous recipe published in 5280 Magazine Cookbook. This cook at home dish did require a little effort compared to the other two dishes. The finished golden brown cake was very good!
The cherry pie, not from Jax, but still made from scratch was delicious.
The rosé wine from the Matthiasson Winery was perfect for the seafood and the winery donated the entire purchase price to the Independent Restaurant Fund.
Overall, my ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for Jax Fish House is Very Good.
