A take away and cook at home meal. This time, no bicycle ride to pick up our dinner but a pleasant drive. Food is delivered to your trunk, so there’s minimal contact. Dinner was a large chicken with vegetables, salad with dressing, bread, and panna cotta for dessert. Of course, a bottle of wine is included.
A large 3 pound air dried Amish chicken in a disposable heating pan has been coated with fennel pollen sitting on top of potatoes, carrots, turnips, and red onion petals. Amish is a type of heritage chicken and not descriptive of the religious group. After baking for 75 minutes, the chicken is still very moist as an extra container of chicken juice is included. The meat was very tasty and delicious. The vegetables were soft and flavorful.
The mustard greens with the Sherry vinaigrette added a great taste.
The Vanilla Panna Cotta with strawberries and rhubarb was enjoyed as it was a sweet ending to the meal.
Lastly, the 2019 Gamay Noir, Barsotti Vineyards from California is a light red wine. Perfect for a roasted chicken dinner.
